• PGJ Educational Edition (or PGJ ED.) is a new program that we are developing for youth in the greater Sacramento region.

It is an educational program designed with the same fundamentals we've used in our Progressive Game Jam program over the last nine years. The goal of the PGJ programs is to provide an experience for the participants that spans the full development lifecycle of producing a video game product.

While the main PGJ program allows participants to operate mostly autonomously learning and developing on their own with their teammates in a manner that they choose, PGJ ED. provides a structured curriculum and a strong focus on educational instruction.

  • PGJ Educational Edition dates registration is now open and more locations will be announced as they are available. We are planning 10-week courses in at least 3 locations each for this Winter, next Spring, and next Summer.

The curriculum will include instruction on the basic concepts of video game development including coding, art, animation, basic AI, sound, and UI/UX, as well as an understanding of development methodology and the development lifecycle. Participants who complete the course will have made a full game from beginning to end.

If you are a high school student who is interested in joining one of these classes, you can sign up to be notified by email when the classes are announced by using the sign up form below.

You can also bring this up with your teacher or faculty and have them contact us at info@progressivegamejam.com for more information on bringing the program to your school.

  • If you are a teacher or school faculty member and you want to know more about the program and how to bring this program to your school, please reach out to our staff at info@progressivegamejam.com and we will provide you with the information you need.
